Vera Vouet is the solo project of Daniela Maguire, originated in San José, Costa Rica. Her music is influenced by British Trip Hop and French Pop. Her debut single, "Reina de la Noche" (Queen of the Night), has a dreamy, tranquil, yet dramatic atmosphere with processed sounds, scratching, reverb, distortion, and harmonic foundations with extended chords that emulate the sounds of jazz and soul. It blends live instruments and synthesizers with a deep, carefree voice. Vera Vouet seeks to portray her Costa Rican origins and surroundings through her lyrics and visuals, combining them with her European musical influences.
This single was produced by Belgian engineer and producer Jeff Claeys and mastered by English engineer James Trevascus, who has worked with Nick Cave and Beth Gibbons (vocalist of Portishead, a pioneer of Trip Hop and one of Vera Vouet's biggest influences).
